Returns & Refunds
RetroFit refurbishes and upgrades original Nintendo Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP consoles in Brisbane, Australia. Every console is tested and photographed before it is packed. This policy explains what happens if something isn't right, and what we offer if you simply change your mind.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy limits or replaces your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Those rights apply to every console we sell — including sale and discounted items — and they sit alongside anything we offer voluntarily below.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. If a console has a major failure — it is unsafe, it is significantly different from how we described it, or it cannot be fixed within a reasonable time — you may choose a refund or a replacement, and you may be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss. If the failure is minor, we may choose to repair the console instead.
Because our consoles are refurbished original hardware, "acceptable quality" is judged against the age and condition of the console and anything we have disclosed on the product page. Cosmetic wear we have described and photographed is not a fault.
100-day warranty
Every RetroFit console carries a 100-day warranty from the day you receive it.
Covered: faults in the work we have done and the parts we have fitted — the IPS V5 screen, the battery and charging circuit, buttons and membranes, the shell, and internal connections.
Not covered: accidental damage, liquid damage, drops or cracked housings; damage caused by opening or modifying the console after delivery; normal cosmetic wear on original Nintendo parts; loss or theft after delivery; and third-party games, cartridges or accessories we did not supply.
If a covered fault appears within 100 days, contact us and we will repair or replace the console at no cost to you, including postage in both directions.
This warranty is in addition to your Australian Consumer Law rights, not instead of them. Your consumer guarantees are not limited to 100 days.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
Please open and check your console when it arrives.
If it is faulty, was damaged in transit, or is not the console you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery for transit damage, or at any point within the warranty period for a fault. Send photos where you can — it usually saves a round trip.
We will repair, replace or refund in line with the Australian Consumer Law, and we cover postage both ways.
Change of mind — 30 days, store credit or exchange
If you simply change your mind, you can return a console within 30 days of receiving it for store credit or an exchange.
We do not offer cash refunds for change of mind. This is our own policy and is separate from your consumer guarantees above, which are unaffected.
To be eligible, the console must be:
- In the same condition you received it, unused and undamaged
- In its original packaging, with all accessories, cables and inserts included
- Accompanied by your order number or proof of purchase
Store credit is issued as a gift card for the amount you paid for the console. Original shipping charges are not included in the credit.
How to start a return
-
Email us at «YOUR RETURNS EMAIL» with your order number, and tell us whether the console is faulty or you have changed your mind. Photos help for faults.
-
Wait for authorisation. We will reply with a return authorisation number and the address to send the console to. Please don't post anything back before you have one — parcels arriving without an authorisation can't be processed and may be returned to you.
-
Pack it properly. Use a padded satchel or a box with padding. Consoles damaged in transit because of inadequate packaging may not be accepted.
-
Send it tracked and give us the tracking number.
We inspect returns within 2 business days of arrival and will email you the outcome either way.

If you pay to return a console you believe is faulty and we confirm the fault, we reimburse your postage. If we test it and find no fault, we will let you know before sending it back.
Refunds and credit
Store credit is issued within 2 business days of us accepting the return.
Refunds — where a refund applies under the Australian Consumer Law or the warranty — go back to your original payment method within 5–10 business days of approval. How quickly it appears depends on your bank or card issuer.
Where a console has a major failure, we refund the original shipping cost as well.
Exclusions
-
Gift cards cannot be returned or refunded.
-
Consoles damaged after delivery — drops, liquid, or damage from being opened or modified — are not covered by the warranty or by change-of-mind returns. Contact us anyway; we can usually quote a repair.
-
Parcels sent without a return authorisation cannot be processed.
-
Change-of-mind returns outside 30 days, or where the console has been used or is missing packaging or accessories.
Sale and discounted consoles are not excluded from your consumer guarantees. If a discounted console is faulty, your rights are exactly the same as on a full-price one.
International orders
We ship to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore and the United States.
The same 30-day change-of-mind and 100-day warranty terms apply. For change-of-mind returns you cover return postage; for faults and warranty claims we cover it.
Customs duties, import taxes and handling fees already paid to your local authority are not refundable by us — you may be able to reclaim them directly from your customs authority.
If you are shopping outside Australia, you may have additional rights under your local consumer law. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
